Hello VRLL Families -

We will be conducting evaluations outside on February 28th at Legion Field with an additional date on March 6th (Rain date March 7th) if needed.

The evaluation process has been streamlined and will be adhering to our COVID19 safety protocols.

Here is how it will work…

1.     Arrive at Legion Park at the designated date and time slot for your child.

2.     A volunteer will direct you to pull your car into a lineup behind the car in front of you along the batting cage guardrail.

3.     Stay in your car until a volunteer is ready to check in your player. All others should remain in their car the entire time.

4.     Players will check-in, have their temperature checked and head over to the batting cage area.

5.     After hitting, they will take ground balls and fly balls with a sanitized ball.

6.     After fielding, the player will be instructed to head back to their car and exit the park.

We are trying to make this as safe and easy as possible.  The evaluation should take less than 5 minutes per player and you should have a good view of your player from your car parked along the guardrail as directed.

What to bring

  • Bring your own bat and helmet if you have them.  Sanitized bats or helmets will be provided for those not bringing their own.  Everyone must bring their own glove. *If you have a composite bat it is recommended to leave it at home due to potentially lower temperatures.
  • Face covering

  • To avoid ball sharing, we have eliminated the typical warm-up throw and catch.  It is advised to have your player warm-up prior to arriving at the park.
  • If your child was on a Major Division team in 2019 they will not need to attend evaluations.
  • Returning 2020 Majors players do need to attend the evaluations.
  • First year major players from 2020 are not guaranteed to be placed on the same team this season.
  • For baseball, only players league age 8 and up (as of 8/31/2021) need to evaluate.
  • Players league age 7 wanting to be considered for the minors division (player pitch) should attend evaluations.  Otherwise, they will be placed on a Farm division (machine pitch) team.

BASEBALL Majors Eligibility

  • Players ages 10, 11, 12 will be considered Majors draft eligible unless a parent/guardian expresses otherwise to the VP of Baseball or Player Agent.
  • 9-year-old players that are deemed Majors eligible by the Player Agent may enter the draft after receiving approval from the parent/guardian

  • Schedule is for both Saturday and Sunday.  It is recommended (not required) to evaluate on both Saturday and Sunday if wanting to be considered for Majors.
